Will we go back to Outback?

Yesterday we were invited to try the New Limited Time Offer at Outback Steakhouse , Lagoona Mall. This was our first time there, so we had absolutely no idea what to expect.

The restaurant itself is quite big with nice interiors. There’s indoor as well as outdoor seating space.

Once we got seated, we were presented the main menu as well as the New Limited Time offer. This new offer consists of three mains: Beef Ribs, Bone-in Ribeye Steak and Alice Springs Chicken and Beef Ribs. We ordered Bone-in Ribeye Steak and Alice Springs Chicken and Beef Ribs from the New Limited Time Offer. From the main menu, for starters, we ordered Blooming Onion and House Salad with Thousand Island Sauce. And The Dessert Trio for Desserts.

After we were done with the order, fresh bread and butter were served.

Soon after that, our server, Jennica came in with a variety of drinks. She was well informed about the names and ingredients of all the drinks. And explained them very well while serving. All the drinks were quite good but three of them stood out for us. We liked the Mint Lemonade the most. It was well balanced and refreshing. The Citrus Cooler and Oreo Milkshake were good too. Citrus Cooler was an amazing combination of orange, lemon and cucumber with strawberry syrup. While Oreo Milkshake was also good, not too heavy neither too sweet.

Next came in the appetizers. The House Salad which consisted of fresh vegetables and croutons was just ok-ay. Nothing outstanding. But we were glad to know that all the salad dressings and sauces are freshly prepared at the restaurant and they do not use the packaged stuff.

The Blooming onion tasted good. But we believe that it’s too big a serving as an appetizer. Good enough for four people maybe!

Soon after that, the mains were served. The Bone-In Ribeye Steak was served with two mains, pilaf rice and mashed potato. We had also asked for mushroom and pepper-corn sauce. Ok so the Steak itself was done very well. The flavor, texture everything was just perfect. The sides tasted equally good and complimented the steak well. But the sauces were such a disappointment. They weren’t even edible. Both of them were extremely salty due to which we couldn’t even have a spoon or two of them!

The Alice Springs Chicken and Beef Ribs, was served with Aussie Fries and honey mustard dip. The Alice Springs Chicken is one of Ouback’s signature dish. It is grilled chicken topped up with mushrooms, bacon and cheese. It tasted good and was very appetizing. The Beef ribs were ok-ay. Not the best ones that we have had, they could have been better. Aussie fries were just normal salted french fries.

Last but not the least, we had desserts. The Dessert Trio consisted of Raspberry Cheesecake, Banana Nut Cake and Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. All the desserts were really good. Just the right serving size and the right amount of sweet, topped with homemade chocolate shavings and whipped cream.

So, here comes the question, that will we go back? Yes we will! The Mint Lemonade and Bone-in Ribeye Steak were the highlights of the evening for us. But they really want to work on the amount of salt they add to their dishes, especially in the sauces.

What about you? Have you tried Outback Steakhouse? How was your experience? Will you go back to Outback? Do let us know, we would love to hear back from you!
