A dine-out was due from quite a long time. Yesterday we finally managed to take some time out for dinner. We wanted to try something new, so decided to try the new ‘Soul in a Bowl’ promo of Hwang at Intercontinental the City. Although we had reserved a table in advance, but we still had to wait for a while as we were told that due to some confusion our table wasn’t ready as then.
Once we got seated, we were presented with the menus. A set menu of six ‘bowls’ in total, to be shared by two.
After serving water, our server came in with Chicken Soto Soup. Although the soup was a bit salty for us, but we really liked the aroma of lemon grass and hint of tomatoes in it. The soup was gone in minutes.
After we were done with soup, Thai Red Curry and Indonesian Mie Aceh were served. The Thai Red Curry were served as a replacement of Japanese Beef Yakitori, as we aren’t a big fan of beef and the chef was kind enough to make this change for us. Indonesian Mie Aceh could have tasted better if it was less salty. The Red Curry was fine though.
After being done with this, we waited quite a long for the rest of the items. Finally after a long wait, Thai Green Fried Rice, Chicken Mangolian and Thai Style Fried Hamour were served. We must say that all these three dishes were cooked to perfection and we thoroughly enjoyed them.
Overall we must say that our experience was just okay-ish, not extra ordinary. The staff were courteous but weren’t attentive. On more than one occasions, we had to remind them about missing cutlery. We would have appreciated if all five bowls, after soup, were served together, or at least we would have been asked about our preference. The portion sizes were fine though, good enough for two people to share.
This is what we paid for our meal for two:
Soul in a bowl: Qr. 265
Large bottle of water: Qr. 30
